As you may already be aware, this coming April the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO will hold its 50th Anniversary Convention.  The Convention will take place at the David L. Lawrence Center in Downtown Pittsburgh from April 12th through the 15th.  Current PA AFL-CIO President Bill George will step down at the convention, and a new leadership team will be elected.  The conference will also feature guest speakers and resolutions regarding the priorities and direction that the union movement in Pennsylvania will take over the next two years.

President George and Secretary/Treasurer Rick Bloomingdale have graciously offered to allow PARA members to attend the convention as guests.  If you or any member of your retiree organization would like to receive a FREE guest pass to the convention through PARA, you can do that by mailing your request to us in writing in the envelope provided, or by e-mailing the information to our staff person Adam Swope at aswope@retiredamericans.org.  Please provide the name, address, phone number, e-mail (if any) and union affiliation (if any) of each person requesting a badge.  Guest badges will be available at check-in at the convention office in the David L. Lawrence Center.  Due to the Alliance for Retired Americans National Convention in Las Vegas the preceding week, all postal mail requests must be received by April 1st to be processed.  Please submit any requests later than April 1st by e-mail only.  Of course, if you would wish to stay overnight you would be responsible for your own costs.

Also, PARA will be holding a meeting at the convention on Wednesday afternoon.  Click here for more info:
